Thoughts for Thursday

Welcome to Thoughts for Thursday.  Natalie and I are glad to have you.  Please feel free to share anything you would like and grab a button below to link up.

+ I spent the entire day yesterday attempting to "film" a day in the life post.  So many people love to read those and it was by far the most requested from the survey last week.  I've done quite a few in the past {read them here} and I thought it would be fun to change it up a bit!

selfie time :)

+  The trick with the video is that I don't have a damn clue how to edit all my footage now.  I feel like it's going to take me forever to get it done.  I've just recently started enjoying watching a few "vlogs," so hopefully I will pick up a few tips from them.  If anyone else has a good youtube tutorial or any suggestions, please send them my way!!

+ I've really been wanting to learn how to use iMovie though because I think it will be the perfect solution to combing all my videos of the kids to form some family videos to look back on one day.

+ I completed my Fall decorating yesterday (for the most part) and I feel pretty relieved to have it done.  I'll be sure to share some pictures next week!  I also shared that I was trying not to drink any alcohol this week and I totally made it one day!! I'm the worst!

+  There are several Friends + Family sales going on this week.  Bloomingdales and Saks go through this weekend.  I really don't need a thing, but I've been wanting these shoes forever and may make the plunge this weekend.  They are so cute and comfortable.  I just can't decide between the black or the grey.

+ I'm going to share two quick outfit of the days with you ladies.  Several of you have commented to me lately how pretty some of my instagram photos have been.  I took the kids to the park last week and was greeted by the nicest college student who is taking a photography class.  She wanted to take some photos of the kids playing for her class and then we got to talking.  She was so kind to come over and take some OOTD photos for me.  She did an awesome job and I'm dying to pick her brain on how to shoot in manual.  So she is the reason for the pretty outfit photos!!

Both of these dresses come at a great price, have pockets and are super comfortable.  I love the colors that I picked for each, but they are also available in several different colors.  They made a wonderful transitional dress for us Southerners because they look with booties and layer easily.  And plaid scarves...oh I won't even go into how much I love them.

+ To all of my friends on the east coast that have had to evacuate or prepare for the hurricane, I am so sorry and we will be praying for you and your families!  Stay safe and enjoy time with your family.  That always makes things better :)

  2. Loving your OOTDs lately, they look awesome!! I've been eyeing those Vince slip ons too, I saw someone wearing them the other day and they're so cute. I wasn't going to drink alcohol this week either and then I went to girls night on Tuesday with half priced wine bottles, oops!! ;)

  4. Every damn week I say I'm not going to have that glass of wine every night....and every week I make it maybe one day!! #momlife Your outfits are adorable! I seriously started looking into vlogs last month during the blogtember challenge and I was totally overwhelmed. I think I need a class!! Shooting in manual is a game changer...so many tutorials online and I actually took an online class once that really helped.

  11. I am LOVING that blanket scarf and dress combo! That will be my go-to outfit all Fall! I used iMovie to document our entire IVF journey and it was super easy... if I can do it anyone can because I suck at technology!

  14. Because I'm sure I'll forget to tell you this when I see you Thursday, you should look into the online photography classes through Clickin Moms. I started taking their classes about 3-4 years ago when I kept wondering why I had an expensive camera with all kinds of buttons and I only shot in automatic. Now I can't imagine shooting in Auto. I only use manual and it makes a HUGE difference. I look back at my pics from several years ago and cringe. Take the classes. They are great, convenient and not outrageously priced. I think you will love them!

Also I make a video for the kids every Christmas of all my favorite photos and video clips form the year. My whole family watches it on Christmas Day. I have always used iMovie. Once you get the hang of it, it is easy. I won't say it is super quick b/c combing through a years worth of pictures and videos for a mom of two is never quick, but my kids watch the movies of themselves way more often than they pick up one of my photo books. Now that they are older they will say "video me doing...so it can go in the next Mac and Coe show!"

You tube tutorials are great for iMovie and for all the photo editing programs. Good luck!
