DIY Fabric Wreath

I'm honestly not much of a DIY'er, but every now and then a project catches my eye and I feel the need to try it.  I have seen these fabric wreaths around Pinterest for a few years now and I decided I was ready to try one.  I bought fabric to make one wreath for my friend's baby shower and then one to make a wreath for Madelyn's room.  Needless to say, I have never gotten around to making Madelyn's yet.  But I'm proud of myself for completing one!

I do love the way it turned out!  Here's the simple steps that I used to make mine.  With the holidays upon us, they really make great gifts for friends or family or for yourself.  I have seen some super cute holiday themed ribbon wreaths on Pinterest and there are tons of fabrics to choose from at the fabric stores.

First:
You will need a 6 section wire wreath you can find them at any craft store they are $2.49 at Michael's or JoAnne's
you will also need your fabric I chose 8 fat quarters (or 2 yards) just so I get a variety of colors and patterns and do not spend a lot of money on wasted fabric... (I got mine from Joanne's)
and finally you will need a pair of scissors

Second:
Cut your fabric into strips (mine were about 1.5inches)
Take your fabric and cut a small portion and then rip the rest
I found that ripping was so much easier than trying to cut with scissors plus I liked the look

Third:
Once you have cut all your fabric into strips just start tying knots as demonstrated in the photos below. I tie them by sections but you can do it by each ring. Once you get a couple of knots tied make sure you slide them over so they are tight this makes for a full wreath. It can be very time consuming, so sit back with a good TV show and relax!

The final product!!

Have you made a fabric wreath before???
