Scenes From Our Weekend

Happy Monday friends!! I feel like I'm ready for this week.  Not really sure why, but I did have a great weekend and got quite a few things checked off the to-do list which felt nice!

Friday evening, Matt and I snuck away for a date night.  We ate at a restaurant called Type that we had been to one time before.  We weren't crazy about it our first time, but we swore we were going to give it another chance.  We did.  And we still weren't crazy about it.  We both had the fried grouper dish below and I liked mine a lot better than Matt cared for his.  Either way, it will probably be a long time before I ever convince him to go back again.

We picked another spot for dessert downtown and then walked around gallery night.

Saturday we went out for breakfast and then ran a few errands in the morning.  We hit up the grocery store to prepare for company coming over for dinner.  Matt and I finally got our outdoor grill for the back patio.  I honestly couldn't be more excited.  This is something that was supposed to be done when the house was built a year and a half ago and instead it just got finished this week!!! It looks awesome and will share a better picture when it's fully complete (we still have to paint the brick).

We cooked filet + shrimp, squash and zucchini on the grill and then this delicious summer skillet gnocchi that I had just seen on Jessica's instagram.

Our friends brought their kids over for an early dinner and some fun playtime.  They have a brand new (3 weeks old) baby boy that I could just gobble up.  He is so sweet and seeing him and watching Brody interact with him really made our baby #2 seem so real!!

I can't get enough of these two kids.  They truly are the sweetest together.  They were literally frolicking in the back yard, so of course I had to break out in paparazzi mode and shoot some cute pictures.

Sunday we took Brody to the Country Club pool for a birthday party.  He had a blast showing off his swimming skillz and sadly I forgot to snap any pictures.  We wore him out and then came home to put him down for a nice nap.

While he napped, I started washing Madelyn's clothes.  It was so fun to go through her things and start organizing her closet.  There is so much pink.  It's crazy.  Next on my list is to pack our hospital bags!!

I've been working on Brody's big boy room for a little while now, but it will has a ways to go.  We have it set up enough to where we have a single bed which will eventually be his big boy bed and then we also have a crib.  We made it official tonight that he will start sleeping in this room for good now (he's still been sleeping in his nursery which will now be Madelyn's room).

We made a big deal of his new "big boy room" and both Matt and I did his bedtime routine together and celebrated in his new room.  We read books and sang in his big boy bed, but placed him in the crib to sleep.  I'm hoping to keep him in the crib as long as possible honestly :)

He really seemed so excited about his new room though!!! I felt like it was a success.  I'll keep  you posted.

Have a great week!

  20. All that pink! Love it! I can't believe baby girl will be here so soon. Miller and the big boy bed is not going that well. He's pretty good about going down to bed but he's been waking up in the middle of the night and coming into our room every night since we moved. I know the new room is strange to him but I'm really missing the crib right now because no one is sleeping! We've even found him in Matthew's room a few times trying to wake the baby up to play!
