As I mentioned before, we kept Brody's birthday party this year a family affair. I could not have been happier with my decision all the way through the end. I didn't have it in me to throw the big soiree and several events leading up to his party kept proving that my decision was the right one!!! One example included a knock at our door as the guests were arriving letting us know that there was a water pipe busted near by and our water was going to be turned off in 5 minutes. No water. No flushing toilets. No cleaning dishes. No water..... We filled up a bath tub and managed to make the toilet function, but imagine how we would have felt if we had a house full of 60 guests????? The water didn't get turned back on until after midnight which meant there were lots of dirty dishes in our kitchen!!! I digress.
Brody had a blast eating his birthday cupcake before dinner, singing along to the Happy Birthday song, tearing open all his gifts and playing with his cousins! It was a simple and perfect evening.
A few simple details from the party...We served sliders, grilled chicken, pulled pork, Chinese coleslaw, crack potatoes, cake and cupcakes!
Two is such a fun age. He surprises me every day. I loved celebrating him being two and look forward to all the birthdays to come!
Oh gosh - I can't imagine what the water issue would have caused if you had a house full of guests, but everything happens for a reason! Looks like Brody had the best time!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! He is just precious. I love him diving face-first into that cupcake ;)
ReplyDeleteSo precious! I love the picture of him face-forward in the cupcake. :) And I can't believe y'all's water was turned off right before the party! I would have FLIPPED. So glad y'all made it work; what a cute little party!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Brody! Looks like y'all had the best time! xoxo
ReplyDeleteargh bummer about the water pipe burst! but it looks like the party was still fun. i love the idea of keeping kids bday parties low-key and limited to a few friends and family... i feel like huge parties are a little overkill for kids. xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe your water was off!! What awful timing! It looks like you had such a great day anyways and that menu is to die for!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable party, it looks like Brody was enjoying every second! Xo, Stephanie
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, I would die if there wasn't water at a party! We had a birthday party this weekend for my son too, and I can't imagine no water yikes! One time I had all of my cousins over (20 of us) and our air conditioner went out at it was 100° out, yikes! Glad you made the most of it and still enjoyed the day!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Brody!! We did a smaller party too this year and I'm so happy with our decision! It made the day so much more enjoyable. Love Brody diving head first into the cupcake!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I can't believe you made it through your party without water!! It looks like he had a great time anyway!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday to Brody!!! So glad that he had a great party and that your water is back, ha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! Glad you kept it simple....sometimes that turns out to be the very best party.
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely precious, and his hair is so handsome. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Brody!! Those family pictures are the cutest!! It looks like such a fun time! I can't believe the water was turned off for so long. A port a potty would have been a great addition to the decor ;)
ReplyDeleteI and my husband are also planning to celebrate my son’s 4th birthday, but don’t know any good birthday party location. Please recommend best halls in Los Angeles for our party and small family get-together.
