Thoughts for Thursday

Thoughts for Thursday is here again.  I'm back to share some random thoughts as usual.  Natalie and I love to hear yours too, so grab a button below and join in on the link-up party!!  The more random the better in our opinion :)

+ Brody and I took an impromptu trip to our local zoo yesterday with some friends.  We've been to this zoo one time before; but it's been almost a year, so I was anxious to see how Brody was going to like it this go round.

+ The weather was outstanding so I was thrilled to be outside and in the sun for the morning.  I figured Brody would be pretty pleased with this plan too.

+ He looks happy doesn't he??  We rode the train, fed the birds, ate some snacks and walked around to see all the animals.

+ The problem was.... this was his reaction to most ALL of the animals (photo below).  He was scared $hitless.  If I got him up close to any of them (heaven forbid me try to have him feed the animals), he probably peed his pants and definitely screamed bloody murder.  It was kind of comical except for the fact that it meant I had to carry his 27+ pound booty around the entire zoo.

+ The kid didn't want to be in the stroller, but also didn't want to run around and play with all the animals like I had hoped.  Instead he wanted his mommy to hold and protect him!  That was only cute for a minute.  Needless to say, I think we'll wait awhile again before we venture back to the zoo.

+ On another note that involves NO child, Mama is heading to the big apple this weekend!!! I am so excited for my little trip.  It's just me.  No hubby and no baby and I have to admit, it feels pretty freeing.  I haven't traveled away from Brody without Matt yet.  That means I haven't had an all girls trip with no babies in over 18 months!! That's like a sin.  I live for my girls trips and have been missing a good bachelorette party like crazy.  I have a few of those coming up this year too that I'm super excited about.

+ Anyway, I'm headed up to visit my cousin that lives up there and just got engaged!  I get to see my other cousin that lives up there too and a couple of my fave college girlfriends!! It's going to be such a treat.

+ Do you know what traveling alone means for a Mom?  It means I actually can't wait for flying on a plane because I can pull out a book, magazine, or music whenever I feel like it.  It means I don't have a cranky toddler squirming and pulling at me for more milk or snacks or Mickey Mouse.  It means peace. and quiet.  #itsthelittlethings

+ I'm planning to finish up "Where'd you go, Bernadette?" which I'm about halfway through now and only mildly entertained by and then I'm bringing along "What Alice Forgot" after some great reviews from some of you!! Thank you!

+ I'm ready to be there and can't wait to walk the streets of New York.  You can follow along on my adventure as always on Insta @homeofmalones and please share with me your favorite eateries in the city because I can't wait to eat and shop my way through NYC.

Okay, it's your turn.

  2. I felt the same about Where'd you go Bernadette. It's kinda odd, and like you said, mildly entertaining. What Alice Forgot is one of my favorites by Lianne Moriarty. The writing is good and the story line makes you think.

  11. I love, love, love NYC! We went for NYE last year and had a blast. Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn bridge was some really great pizza....and then we walked back across the bridge to Manhattan which I loved. I've read both books....liked both but LOVED What Alice Forgot!

  18. I'm super jealous you're heading to NYC because I haven't been in 2 years but I might be even more jealous of all that kid free time you're having!! That time on the plane alone sounds soooo nice. Poor Brody :( Miller had zero interest in the zoo when we took him in the fall. I'm hoping maybe he will like it this summer.
