Baby Madelyn | Month 4 & 5

4 Months Old as of January 14th, 2016
5 Months Old as of February 14th, 2016

Weight:
4 Months | 15lbs (65%) | 26 in long (94%) | Head (65%)
5 Months | 15 lbs 6 oz

Clothes:
You wear anything from 3 months to 9 months

Sleep:
We were all over the board with sleep for a little while.  You were sleeping through the night in December until you caught a little congestion from Brody and started waking up usually once in the middle of the night.  You rolled into the 4 month sleep regression for a bit at the beginning of January and then finally started sleeping through the night again towards the end of Jan.  About 4 days later, you caught your first case of RSV and sleep got really bad.  On top of the RSV, you cut your first two teeth.  Needless to say, we had about 10 days that were terrible with sleep at the end of January and beginning of February.  Thankfully you are healthy again and are back sleeping through the night.

Your nap schedule has been a little erratic too.  You usually take 2 cat naps and 1 decent nap during the day.  I try to make your long nap in the late afternoon (around 2 or 230pm) because that's when your brother is sleeping.  Those are the best days when I can get you both napping at the same time!

Schedule:
7am wake up and feed
9am nap
10am feed
1130am nap
1pm feed
230pm nap
4pm feed
630pm Bath Time
7pm Feed & Bed

Health:
As I mentioned above, you got a little nasal congestion just before Christmas when Brody was really sick. Thankfully you didn't catch what he had, but the little bit of congestion did wake you up at night. At the end of January, Brody caught another really nasty cold. He had it for a week and I was shocked you didn't catch it. But then the next morning you woke up with a cough. We caught it early, but you still ended up on breathing treatments and then ultimately got a double ear infection. You ran a really high fever one morning (103) that could have been from the sickness, but I think it was from you cutting your first tooth.

Feeding:
We started supplementing with formula just after Christmas time. I hated it at first because it didn't seem to agree with you well. I had read that it can take about one week for your digestive system to adapt to formula. And they were right. After about 5 days, you were back to your normal self. You only got about 8oz of formula a day and the rest breast milk. Since you got sick at the beginning of the month, my supply fell a lot and you are getting mostly formula now and just a little breast milk. You take about 6 ounces every 3 hours (5 feedings a day).

Mama is feeling good.  I made it to my pre-Madelyn weight right around 4 months and now about 3 or 4 pounds less than what I weighed when I got pregnant with you.  Mostly doing Pure Barre for exercise and looking forward to taking more walks now that it's warming up.

  1. What a doll! I'm so glad she is back to feeling good and sleeping well! I'm going to introduce one bottle of formula to Leo when he gets to his 6mth birthday. What kind of "side effects" did you notice? And what kind of formula do you like?

  2. Love her dress! I'm such a sucker for baby clothes that are extremely classic and Southern! And I joined a diet bet that starts on Wednesday!! I've already decided what I'm going to do with my winnings, so I've got to work hard to win haha!
