Scenes from our weekend + Hero Me

We were excited to spend the weekend at home and enjoy some fun in the sun and lots of football.  After Brody's second day of MDO on Thursday, he did a little better; but he came home sick.  On Friday, he was a bit ornery and the only thing that seemed to make him happy was to be outside.  I let him run and run and play around outside as I chased him to keep his mind off that runny nose.

He played so hard outside that by the time we got home and in the shower, he fell asleep on the changing pad.  That's.never.happened.  I couldn't even keep the kid awake and it was only 5:30pm.  Need less to say, I let him go to bed.  I figure when we're sick, all we want to do is sleep; so I should just let him do the same.   I whipped up some homemade pizzas on Naan bread with whatever we had in the refrigerator (tomato, mozzarella, basil for one and bbq chicken, caramelized onions, chopped tomato, pancetta, and mozzarella for the other).  It was a nice, chill evening with libations, our homemade pizzas and several episodes of House of Cards.

Saturday was spent watching a lot of football.  Brody was dressed in his orange and blue for the Gator game and is already a pro with the TV remote (JK).  But it won't be long...like Father, like son. We had friends over throughout the day to watch football and truly break-in the man cave this football season.

Sunday we headed out to the beach early and grabbed some breakfast at Margaritaville.  After breakfast we set up shop on the beach for an hour or so to soak up these last weekends of summer.  I also wanted to get Brody in the salt water to help with his snotty nose and chest congestion.  Salt water heals everything!

After we wore Brody out, we headed home to let him take a nap and wait for my Mama to show up!!!   We were so excited because we hadn't seen her since we went to Vail.   Brody woke up just in time for the end of the Saints game which I thought was a for sure win!  But we lost :(

Bed Head Baby

We are always so spoiled when my Mom comes to town because she cooks us gourmet meals.  Sundays are usually are pizza night, but since we ate pizzas on Friday and we had Mom in town; we thought we would do something fun!  She boiled us raw oysters that were so delicious.  We served them on grilled crustinis.

Then we had BBQ shrimp.  It was so easy and so delicious.  I definitely need to make this one night when we have friends over.  You just serve it with some garlic bread on the side to dip into the garlic sauce from the shrimp.  We ate it up too fast for me to snap a picture of the shrimp after we baked it.  Sorry.

It was a perfect end to the weekend and now I'm looking forward to the week because I have my Mama in town all week to hang with me.  Brody is so spoiled :)

On another note...I want to share something awesome with you guys!  Do you remember my friend Annie from Ann Elliot??  She recently put her blog on hold for a little while so she could put her focus on a different area in her life.  Annie and I met in college (Go Gators) and actually had the EXACT SAME NAME.  We were both Annie Adams in college and people used to get us confused all the time.  It was funny when we actually met because we felt like we already knew each other!  Anyway, her and her husband have started a company called Hero Me that is so unique and amazing for young boys.   The best way for me to explain it would be to say that it is similar to the Build-A -Bear concept but with SUPERHEROS!!  How cute is that??

Even though Brody is not quite at the age to understand the superhero concept yet, I know he will be obsessed with these toys and ideas one day soon.  If any of you have kids of your own or nephews that would enjoy this, you must check out the Hero Me Lab and show them how it works.

You can read more about their company and follow along on their journey at any of the sites below.  They are running their first campaign to raise money today on Kickstarter!! Help cheer Annie on and share on social media to help her and her husband raise money.
