Our Fall Home Decor

I started putting our Fall decor out at the end of September this year and it started making me smile immediately. I love seeing all the pretty Fall colors throughout the house and my favorite thing of all is burning our Nest Pumpkin candle.

Although it is still quite hot here, we are getting a little cooler weather in the mornings with a nice breeze.  I can start to feel Fall in the air.  I changed up the decor in our entryway a little bit this year; but otherwise, the rest of the decor is pretty close to the same as years past.  I hope you enjoy :)

My 5 Favorite Design Resources | The Pink Door Blog Hop

Today rounds up the last day of our month long Pink Door Blog Hop.  I've had so much fun hopping around to these girls blogs {AnnieAmanda and Marquis} the last few weeks and getting a peek into their beautiful homes.  I always love viewing home tours and then reading how and where others find their inspiration.  You can see previous post from the blog hop here, here and here.  Now I'm going to share with you where I start looking when I have the itch to start decorating!

:: ONE ::
Thankfully Pinterest was peaking about the time we started building our house about three years ago. I couldn't get enough of Pinterest.  I had a separate board for each room of the house and then one for categories like lighting and exterior.  Pinterest can definitely can get you in trouble with all the wonderful things you see, but I think it also can help you find what your eye is drawn to quickly as well!

:: TWO ::
I loved looking through the beautiful photos on houzz.  I remember loving the pictures so much, but sometimes having trouble finding where things came from.  I liked this site too because you get more direct photos of what you are searching for.  Sometimes Pinterest may include things that aren't relevant to your search.

:: THREE ::
BLOGS
I loved scouring lots of blogs when I was building and decorating our house. You can find great inspiration from other bloggers plus some great resources for places to shop and tricks for decorating! These are some of my favorites:

:: FOUR ::
INSTAGRAM
There is so much inspiration on Instagram.  Instagram is great too because people are pretty good at tagging where items are from or you can always ask in a comment!  I love @Kristywicks, @Urbangraceinteriors, @Hunted_Interior, @rachparcell and @elementstyle.

:: FIVE ::
SHOPPING
It's always helpful to get inspiration by just shopping!! Some of my favorites are online and we also have some wonderful local shops that I love to browse as well.  Potterybarn, Ballard Designs and Crate and Barrel are always some of my favorite large retailers.  I love Home Goods and Target and so happy to find accessories at online stores like Design Darling, Shop Establishment, and Furbish Studio.

I hope these helped and I know I missed a few.  Where do you love to find inspiration?

We sure appreciate all of you participating in the Pink Door blog hop this past month.  We want to end it with an opportunity to win $100 gift card to one of our favorite online retailers, Design Darling.  I know you can find something amazing to make you smile all summer long.

Enter the giveaway below and don't forget you can also get 15% off your purchase using code PINKDOOR from now until May 31st!

Brody's Big Boy Room Design Inspiration

It's getting to be that time around our house that we will start transitioning Brody's nursery into baby Madelyn's new nursery and making our guest room Brody's big boy room.  I put together most of this design board awhile back because I knew that we would be getting these twin beds from my Mom's house in New Orleans.  They are a basic black headboard with white and black linens similar to the one's below.

I'm excited to put his room together, but definitely a bit nervous about actually transitioning him into a big boy bed.  He does so well in his crib, I really do hate to take him out of it.  We probably won't start him in the big boy bed until sometime in August before babies September arrival.  I will take all of your tips and experiences on the best way to transition them too!!

So here is the board and honestly, it's changed a little bit since I've put this together and I'm sure it will change even more once I actually get started.  We are not going to use the nightstand shown because my Mom just gave us the one that she used with these twin beds.  I will also not be using that dresser because I already have a piece of furniture in the room that I think will work just fine in his room.  The least amount of furniture I have to purchase the better!!
Brody's Big Boy Room

When my Mom was moving out of New Orleans, she showed me this piece of art that was up for grabs!!! Ya'll it couldn't be a more perfect fit for the theme of Brody's big boy room.  Its a huge piece of art and I absolutely love that it shows the New Orleans street car and all the zoo animals.

And as all this was coming together, I realized how much it all ties back to Brody's favorite damn book that we read every.single.night!!!  I'm not sure what it is about this book, but no matter how many books we have out; he always makes us read this one.  So it all couldn't be more perfect!!

What the Sleepy Animals Do at the Audubon Zoo

I'm excited to see it all come together this summer and share his new space with all of you!!!

House Tour | Our Home Office

Over the last year since we've moved into the house, I have gradually shared photos of the entire house with all of you.  Every room except the office.

This has honestly been the toughest room in the entire house to get right.  And it's still not right, but I'm at least relatively satisfied with it for the moment.  I think it's mostly stemmed from this glass desk that I thought was going to be amazing, but I would have much preferred this white one I was originally looking at.  I'm making the glass work, but one day I will probably find another place in the house for this one and change things up in this room.

The room is a bit tough to furnish because we lack wall space.  There are lots of windows and doors in the room, so we don't have a lot to work with.  Regardless, we're lucky to have this space; so here it is...

And I'm too lazy to source the entire room; but if you have a question about where anything is from, please feel free to ask and I'll hook you up :)
