I hope you join us for another link-up of Thoughts for Thursday!
+ Brody met his teachers for Mother's Day Out on Tuesday. They actually came to the house and met with us which was kind of fun. Brody acted super shy at first being very clingy to me, but in a matter of minutes; he warmed up and dragged them both on the floor to play with him.
+ He posed in his chair for them to take a picture and sang along to "the farmer and the dell" for them with his little toy.
+ Right after the teachers left, we packed up the car and threw on our swim suits to go meet our friends over in Gulf Shores for the afternoon. These boys are so cute together and Brody couldn't wait to go play in the pool with Baylor! They had a blast in the pool and had fun wrecking the condo with their millions of toys!
+ We got home that evening just in time to meet my family for a quick dinner. I was pretty exhausted at this point because neither of us got a nap. Well Brody got a 40 min nap in the car I guess, but I was a bit overtired. The kids found the splash pad after dinner and cracked us up as they went in fully clothed! Cutest little cousins!!
+ I'm getting to that stage in my pregnancy where I'm just tired. I'm tired of being dragged and bossed around by a 2 year old. And I'm hot and sweaty all the time. But I still have a to-do list a mile long of the 9 million things I want to get done before new babies arrival. It's so tough deciding between to-do list and sleep each afternoon, but somehow sleep keeps winning out!
+ Speaking of being so tired, Brody wants to keep dragging my outside to swing in the 90 degree heat. I have no place to sit and the swing is ALWAYS in direct sunlight. This morning, the 3rd thing to come out of his mouth before I could even get him out of the crib was "swing"?? Are you f'in kidding me, kid?? I haven't even dreamed of my first cup of coffee yet and you think I'm going to push you on the swing in this heat? So here's what he looks like after I get a cup of coffee, push him for approx. 2 min and then venture inside to the AC. I watch his sad face through the window as he hopes someone might come out and push him again :( #momoftheyear!
+ Madelyn's baby book arrived this week from Emily Ley and it's even more perfect and beautiful than I imagined. Click on the link for more pretty pictures of the inside and a list of all the pages included! And it's even better in person!
+ So I mentioned above that I jumped on the pumpkin band wagon this week. Hubby was out of town last night and so my dinner plate looked something like this! I came across the recipe below for Pumpkin hummus and I just happened to have all the ingredients on hand. I used Stacy's Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips and they were delicious with it! I was in heaven :)
INGREDIENTS
For the hummus:
1 Cup Reduced-sodium Chickpeas, de-skinned (180g)*
3/4 Cup Canned pumpkin
1/4 Cup Maple syrup
2 tsp Pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp Coconut oil, melted + additional for drizzling, if desired.
+ I'm off to wrap up some errands to get ready for the weekend. Is anyone attending some football games this weekend?? Tell me about it so I can live vicariously through you please!!!!!!

My team plays tonight!! (The real and first Carolina :) ). I'm actually dreading fall, football and pumpkins. I'm hanging on to my summer as long as possible.
ReplyDeleteI'd reach the point of exhaustion in my pregnancies by month 5 so you are still rocking it. You don't have long to go at all! And I don't blame you for sitting inside! You could get one of those chairs with the cover that fold up - I ended up with one last year for before and after the baby so we could have shade and be where the boys where (and it worked on the baseball field too).
That pumpkin hummus looks delicious and perfect for Fall!
ReplyDeletePumpkin hummus - that's different. I remember those last weeks of pregnancy -- oh the naps always won over everything else. Nap now, you will need it more than ever after baby #2 and a two year old raid your world. I wish we could store up sleep and use it when we need it most.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that CRACKED ME UP about the swing!!! Walker does the same thing, and it's still super hot in Dallas, too. Except his is, "Outside?" We eat breakfast and before I can get his plate in the dishwasher, he's banging on the back door.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that the MDO teachers came to your house! That's so neat! We go meet Walker's this morning. :)
I love the name Baylor! Being a Baylor University grad, my ears perked up!
I've had pumpkin pie dip but never pumpkin hummus! I'll have to try it! I've been having a hard time settling on a baby book but that Emily Ley one looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteAlly - Life as I know it
I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to summer yet, but I'm more than ready for everything PUMPKIN! Can't wait to try the hummus! And bring on college football this weekend! I guess I sort of am ready for fall ;)
ReplyDeletePregnant or not, being a mom is tough and being hot weather with a child that doesn't understand tired (which is all of them!) is hard. You're a great mom!! And I am SO ready for all the pumpkin! I think you just steered me toward the pumpkin section of the store today ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's college football season! Our team (OSU) actually plays their first game on Monday, Labor day! I feel for you pushing him in the swing in this heat! He needs to have some sympathy for his mommy! I love that baby book!!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! The heat is unbearable, especially in the direct sunlight. I am constantly getting bossed around by my 4 year old and I have definitely watched from the window as she tries to get up on the trampoline :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

hahahah seriously love your honesty. hilarious!! you are almost there, hang on mama!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, sorry Brody, but I'm siding with your mom on this one! Ain't no chance I could stand in the heat and sun for anything longer than a minute!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY for college football, so excited! That baby book is darling, love it!
ReplyDeletethat hummus sounds so good!! im ready for pumpkin everything :) xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteThanks again for hosting Annie! Love that baby book so sweet. I have so many childhood memories running through the sprinkler with friends and neighbors :) yay for football season!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that swing story is hilarious! I shouldn't be laughing but I would totally do that, too if I were you.
ReplyDeleteLook at those cute boys! Pumpkin hummus = genius and unique! I will be trying it for sure thanks to you :)
ReplyDeletePumpkin hummus??? Omg. I need to try this asap!!! xx
ReplyDeleteThe boys are too cute and I love their names! I used to love taking my boys to the water park when they were little. Please do not feel guilty about being tired and getting rest. You need it and if you don't get to everything on your To Do list, don't stress over it. Take care of you so you can be good for the rest of the family. Brody may be sad now, but when his little sister gets here he's going to occupy his time trying to swing her in her little swing. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived closer so I could come push Brody on the swing for you!! It's so much harder with a toddler and the heat is awful. Our new backyard has so much shade and even not pregnant it's amazing how much more I enjoy being outside with the boys. Love that the boys went into the splash pad fully clothed. That is something Miller would do. That pumpkin hummus sounds so good!! I already bought some pumpkin spice creamer for my coffee :)
ReplyDeleteBrody is the cutest, he is absolutely adorable! That pumpkin hummus sounds amazing, that would quickly solve the pumpkin craving that I am currently experiencing right now! Xo, Stephanie
