I've done a couple of these posts in the past and they are always fun to look back on. Our daily routine post when Brody was only two months old ranks in the top 10 of most viewed blog posts for Home of Malone's I'm pretty sure. I also did one when Brody was twelve months old which was a couple months before he started Mom's Day Out. I'm long over due for one since Brody will be turning TWO next week. I can hardly believe it. Here is a look at a fairly typical day. I documented last Thursday through pictures the best I could!
7:30am
Brody wakes up. Matt gets him from crib and brings him into our room to play and watch Mickey Mouse while we shower and get dressed.
8am
We kiss Daddy goodbye and Brody gets in highchair for breakfast. I had made blueberry muffins this week and the kid devours them. He enjoyed a muffin, yogurt and some strawberries for breakfast.
I made myself some oatmeal with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, chia seeds and a scoop of my favorite cinnamon raisin swirl peanut butter.
9am
I barely finish my coffee and oatmeal and Brody is already at the back door saying "outside, outside." Thankfully this happens to be a cloudy and rainy day which makes the morning a little cooler outside. It has been so hot already this summer. I sit and sip on some more coffee while he plays on his water table and then he drags me out to the yard to swing.
10:30am
I can tell it is about to storm like crazy and we're already going stir crazy in the house, so we get dressed and head to the gym for an hour before lunch. Usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays since he has been out of school, we go to a 9:45am Pure Barre class (yes our PB is awesome and we have a kids care next door); but I forget why we didn't go on this day. So off we go to the elliptical.
I drop Brody off in the child care and he tries every maneuver to keep me from leaving him there alone. Cries hysterical for two minutes and then is absolutely fine. These are new antics he's been working for the last month or so. It's like a two year old regression of some sort...
12:15pm
We eat lunch. I just started using cookie cutters for Brody's PB & Honey sandwiches and I swear it makes it a difference. He actually seems to eat more. Today's lunch is string cheese, watermelon and PB & honey sandwich.
I made an onion, mushroom and sausage frittata this week and had a slice of that for lunch with a half of grapefruit. I absolutely love it when I have a quiche or frittata in the fridge because it is truly a meal that I can eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner!!!
1pm
Brody goes down for his nap in the crib.
3:50ish
Brody wakes up from nap and we try to kill some time before Dad gets home. I usually give him a little snack in the highchair, but I think on this day I just put some Cheerios in his snack cup and off he went. The rain has cleared and we head back outside to watch the construction next door. This is his favorite thing to do!
5:30pm
Daddy usually doesn't get home until around 615 or 630 most nights, but this evening we are very lucky for his early arrival because he wants to take us out to dinner!! The weather cleared up and we head to the beach for an early dinner at Crab's Restaurant. It's red snapper season right now (it's a really short season) and so I enjoyed some fresh snapper for dinner that was dynamite.
I didn't snap a photo of Brody's dinner because I'm pretty sure it consisted of the free rolls that came with dinner, some sweet potato fries and apple slices. Have I mentioned that I have the world's most picky eater as a son??? There is not one item on the kids menu here that he will eat! Blah...
The good news is that they have a playground for the kids. So after dinner, we let him burn some energy on the playground before we left. He was in heaven.
7:30pm
We got home just in time for bath and bed time! I threw him in the tub with me, handed him off to Daddy to put PJs on, read, and go night night!!
8pm
Lights out in Brody's room and Matt and I crawl in bed to finish our final episodes of the Netflix series Bloodline!
I would say that's a pretty good idea of what our days are looking like this summer. Typically we eat dinner at home though and not out, but it sure is fun to change it up every now and then!
What do your days look like? This is probably the last day in the life post I'll do before the second baby arrives. That's when things will really get interesting!!
