Welcome to Thoughts for Thursday with Natalie and I. Share anything and join along in the fun! Mine today will be a bit short and a little random. Random is good though. Feel free to be random :)
+ Brody: He's 3 years and 4 months old now. I feel like I need to document a few things lately since I'm not good at writing these down anymore. He's in school 3 days a week for four hours and I feel like he is a little sponge this year. It's been such a treat to watch him get so excited for school everyday and when I pick him up, I try to get there a few minutes early, and they are all sitting together singing and learning new songs. He loves music.
He comes home and starts singing these new songs that we've never sang with him. Lately, it's been The Lord is Good to Me, God is Great blessing and the pledge of allegiance. He had us all speechless this week when he just put his hand on his heart out of no where and said the entire pledge of allegiance. The way they pronounce the words at this age just make your little heart melt.
At home, Daddy has a special little bedtime ritual with him and he has fallen in love with Journey. He knows about 5 Journey songs now pretty well. Normally, he won't let me video tape him singing; but last weekend, he had the guitar and a good audince and he went to town. Check out this mini-rockstar below!

+ Brody has been scheduled to get tubes in his ears since the end of July. His surgery was scheduled for the beginning of September, but he ended up with a pretty bad cough and chest congestion, so we didn't like the idea of having him go under any anesthesia for the surgery and rescheduled it. Now it is scheduled for next. And today I took him into our pediatrician because he was complaining of his ears hurting and he has a double ear infection!! Ugh!! It seemed like they completely came out of nowhere. Mom's with kiddos that have had ear problems, you feel my pain!!
+ On the bright side, his Buzz Lightyear arrived in the mail today and he was super stoked about it!! It was the only thing that made him smile after he woke up from his nap! He looked so cute in it. He's missing an essential piece to his costume that hasn't arrived yet, so he'll be ready to fly come Halloween!!
+ Essential Oils - So I've recently fallen completely in love with these (and I'm only beginning). A friend of mine (hey Hayden!) mentioned them to me a couple of years ago saying she would use them in a diffuser for her daughter when she was sick. Especially with a cough or congestion. I kind of laughed at her because I thought those essential oils were such a "hippie" thing. But as I read more and learned more and my kids kept getting more and more sick, I started asking her a little more about them. She really just knew the basics, but they do work. Do any of you use them? I'm curious. I would love to hear some of your favorite combinations if you do!
Your kiddos are so cute! So sorry Brody has an ear infection. Hopefully the tubes will help! Jack would die for a buzz light year costume! How cute does he look! I've been using essential
ReplyDeleteOils off and on for awhile and just recently switched to another brand. I need to do more research ab them and actually use them!
Poor Brody!!! Hopefully the tubes help + he gets them SOON! xx
ReplyDeleteOur little had tubes at 10 months and it was amazing! I was very against surgery but after having ear infections for five months straight, it was more than we could handle. While scary, no more medicine or pain is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were able to find the perfect Buzz costume! My little brothers had tubes, but thankfully my kiddos have not had to have them. Sending hugs your way for you and Brody!

Too cute! My daughter loved to sing too when she was that age. I'd go grocery shopping with her and she'd be singing "Jesus Loves Me" at the top of her lungs from the shopping cart. People loved it, so I let her. Now she is a professional singer...imagine that.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time linking up with Thoughts for Thursday :) Thanks for hosting - I am so excited to be able to participate!

Hope everything goes ok with the ears and he can get that surgery soon! Sounds miserable! Love his halloween costume though!
ReplyDeleteOmgoodness! Our emily had ear infections ALL of the time!! It was so hard for her and us! She had surgery, medicine, steroids, tubes! Everything! She has outgrown them now and we are al much happier now!
ReplyDeleteI had problems with ear infections from like day 1. I had to have tubes in my ears 3 times! I think the first time was when I was 2 and the last time I was 9 or 10 maybe. After the last time though, I rarely had ear infections.

I'm totally in to essential oils!!! Your must-haves are definitely peppermint, lavender and ginger... peppermint is good for headaches, ginger is good for nausea, and lavender is good for sleeping and baths!! Diffusing them is great too. But the one I use the most is called thieves. You can put it on the bottom of your feet and diffuse it to help keep you from getting sick (esp in the winter!).
ReplyDeleteThose are my faves, but there are also fresh ones that are obviously great for making your home smell fresh and nice:)
Thanks for hosting!

Love this Brody update!! Sounds so similar to Miller! So sorry about the tubes in his ears, the only upside is that will help so much with the ear infections. Love his costume! Miller is supposed to be a dinosaur but so far he won't actually put the costume on, so we'll see how Halloween goes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I hope the tubes make a world of a difference! It's a super fast procedure so hopefully he will be back to his Journey ways instantly! I just started looking into essential oils but I'm using Rescue Remedy in my water every morning and am finding a mild, positive benefit. You can buy it on Amazon
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh my niece knows the pledge of allegiance now too and we die over it! Sooo cute! And poor Brody, I hope he starts feeling better before Halloween!
ReplyDeleteHope everything goes great with the ears! <3

Not sure what brand you are using for oils but we use Young Living and they are little miracle workers! My son had tubes at 1 and they were life changing (we weren't using oils at that point) Purification works wonders on ear infections, a few drops on a cotton ball to his ear (but not really in his ear you don't want oils in his ear) and down his neck from the side of the ear should help! Good luck guys!
ReplyDeleteUgh, both of our babies had loads of ear infections before they got tubes. GET THE TUBES!!!! THEY ARE MIRACLE WORKERS! You will not regret it! Best decision we ever made for BOTH of our babies. They both get sick a LOT less now. It's crazy.
ReplyDeleteBeen using Essential Oils from Young Living since February and I love them. I agree with another commentator about Thieves. It's huge for immunity support and has helped my daughter tremendously as she was always sick in previous winters but not this Winter. HUGE difference in her wellness and she never missed school. I will caution you about buying oils online as they may not be pure and could have fillers or additives. Young Living is Seed to Seal purity and no one else holds that claim. Good luck with the tubes.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable are you little ones!! The costume is just darling on him. I give my kids probiotics and Sambucus daily to boost immune system during flu season.
