Thoughts for Thursday + Blogger Spotlight

Thank you to everyone for bearing with me over the last several months.  I know I haven't exactly been dependable in the blogging department lately and I appreciate you all cutting me some slack.  I can promise you that I have really missed feeling connected with all of you and hate not having my posts up each week day morning.  I keep thinking that this is going to be the week that I get back on track...and it has yet to really happened.  But I do think that I'm getting closer....

Here's my thoughts for the day:

+ I knew that I was finally starting to feel better when all the sudden last week I started day dreaming of all the fun projects I have ahead of me...Brody's big boy room, Madelyn's new nursery and turning our office into a playroom!  These were giant steps and the thoughts actually made me super excited!

+ Speaking of those projects, I have several posts drafted for inspirations on both of their new rooms which I will hopefully share soon as well as some pregnancy updates!!  I've totally been slacking on pregnancy updates this time around and I can't believe we will be hitting the half way point this weekend.

+  April has flown by and May is going to be even crazier for us.  Matt and I have a trip planned for a little anniversary/babymoon getaway to the Viceroy in Anguilla.  I am so darn excited.  The only thing that would make me more excited is if I could consume large amounts of adult beverages while lying by the pool or beach.  We try to do a trip just the two of us each year around our anniversary.  Last year we went to Turks and Caicos which was really nice and this year I picked Anguilla.  I pretty much felt like I could pick anywhere in the world at the time I booked this trip since I was carrying hubby's child that was making me deathly ill around the clock :)  Who's been before???

+ I have to admit that I am the most nervous to leave Brody this time around.  We have left him multiple times starting at the age of 3 months, but this time will be the longest and I think hardest.  I know we will all do great, but he's seriously at the cutest damn age and stage that I've seen yet.  And yes, I know as Mother's we say that a lot.  But it's true.  He is my awesome little buddy right now and I'm really going to be sad to leave him.  Our trip last year to Turks, I couldn't get out the door fast enough.  #badmom.  The kid had been teething like a mad man and had two separate ear infections within a month of each other and I was worn out.  I needed that vacation away from him.  This time will be tough, but I know I will look back and say it was good for all of us!!!  Do you have any trips planned for the summer this year???

+ Lastly, I would like to introduce, Julie at Everyday Happiness, who is our newest sponsor on Home of Malone's.  She is absolutely adorable and has one cute little blue-eyed baby!  We welcome her to the "boy Mom" club.  I'll let her to do the rest of the introduction...

Name/Age/Location:
Julie Borm, late 20s, Tampa, FL

Family:
My husband and I have been married for about 3 ½ years, and we’re the proud parents of a baby boy named Shepard. I grew up in Ohio in a family of four girls (all a year apart!) and then went to college at Arizona State University. I met my husband in Phoenix and we moved out to Tampa.

Work:
I’m a Communications Director for a national healthcare organization, where I’ve worked for almost five years. I try to find a realistic balance between my responsibilities at work and at home, but find lately that integration is better than balance. I love my job and I love my family so any way I can get them together is a win-win!

Hobbies:
My husband and I both enjoy golfing and traveling. We recently just finished trips to London, Paris and Bermuda and are looking forward to some long weekend road trips later this year.

I also enjoy running outside with Shep (in the jogging stroller of course), especially since I also love eating cheesy, yummy comfort foods. My husband would tell you that my cooking definitely shows my Midwestern roots!

Why I Blog:
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved writing. I always wanted to have a blog, but never felt like I knew what my “niche” should be. Once I got pregnant with my son, I started reading other blogs by moms or expectant moms and wanted to join this incredible, supportive community of women.

What I Blog About:
I blog about the joys in everyday life, hence the title of my blog, Everyday Happiness. I am personally most happy when I’m doing the simple things with my family. Walks around the block, worshiping in church, reading, cooking, traveling, neighborhood celebrations, those are what make my family and I feel connected and happy, so that’s what I like to write about!

Make sure to stop by and show Julie some love today!!  And if you haven't seen it already, her and I are both part of an awesome giveaway on Instagram with Rifle Paper Company!  Be sure to go enter for a chance to win a $250 gift card :)

  5. We were only in Anguilla for a night when we decided to take a ferry over from St. Maarten (they are pretty close in distance). It was beautiful and very peaceful. Not a rowdy scene at all so great for relaxing and enjoying a babymoon trip. We just got back from our babymoon in Aruba a few weeks ago and loved it. Ahhh, wish we could be on an island all the time. Winks and Eyerolls

  6. So exciting about your trip! Great idea to take one every year just the two of you. My husband and I have made a pledge to start doing that now that we are starting a family. It's important to have couple time.
