Mid Week Muse : The Shoe Always Fits

We're talking shoes today on Mid-Week Muse plus an outfit from the weekend!

{via}

The quote above is ironic because I am sharing an outfit today that I wore a pair of simple black round toe Louboutin's with.  The truth is, today I would never spend the money on these shoes that are so simple; yet so expensive.  But at the time, they seemed like a practical purchase because I wore a suit or nice slacks and blouse every day to work and these shoes pretty much went with every outfit plus they were incredibly comfortable.  I find expensive shoes to be a double edged sword (even though I love to splurge on them).  On one hand, if you are going to spend a lot of money on a pair, you want to make sure you wear them a lot.  But on the other hand, if you're going to spend a lot of money on a pair...you want them to be a total KNOCK-OUT.  I think for me, the round toe Louboutin purchase was kind of like "business in the front, party in the back" with the bright red sole and it made putting my shoes on each morning a little more festive!

What's your motto on a nice pair of shoes??

I know there has been many times for me that I've gone for the shoe purchase because of the motto, "The shoe always fits."  Since graduating high school (11 years ago, yikes!) my weight has fluctuated up and down probably 25lbs and then add a pregnancy to that and we've been all over the board.  Shoes, bags and jewelry are always fun to buy even when you're at your heavy weight!  So that would be my go-to splurge.  Here are a few pair of shoes that I own and a few expensive knock-outs that I'd love to own one day!

I have those slingback Louboutin's in the top right corner in green that I wore to my brothers wedding like 6 years ago and they are the most UNCOMFORTABLE shoes ever.  I can't believe I was even able to wear them and then I tried to wear them again to my rehearsal dinner two years ago and it was a disaster.  I definitely should have known better.  However, the short heeled Valentino rock studs are incredibly comfortable and I could wear them all the time!! I love that they made a tall heel and a shorter heel for a lot of the rock-stud colors!!

Here's the outfit I wore my Louboutin Black Heels with.  I absolutely love my new gemstone floral dress from J Crew.  It's the perfect colors and fit.

What pair of shoes is currently on the top of your wish list????

  1. I like your motto! I am so hard on my shoes that I have a hard time splurging, but your muse is making me reconsider! :) Can we talk about those red bow heels?!? xo

  2. I totally get what you mean about it being a double edged sword!! I would love to own a pair of Loubs or even some YSL's but I would be so worried every time I wore them!! It's on my 30 before 30 list to buy a pair and that I will - classic nude or black would be my choice because it would go with everything!!

  3. The Valentino Rock Stud pump is my dream shoe! In the nude color please! I'm a purse girl but have never spent that much on a purse. I'm holding out for the LV Neverfull when I have a baby to use as a diaper bag. I'm hoping if I prove to my husband by not spending any money on a purse in the next year or two he'll give me the OK to buy the LV.

  4. I'm a shoe whore...I love everything about what you just posted! I also want every pair of shoes you posted too. I get all tingly and hyper when I walk into a good shoe section...like a kid in a candy store. You can never go wrong with Loub's!

  5. You need to try and sell those green pair (since they are so uncomfortable) and then buy a new pair that are comfortable! :) And yes, a LB red sole would make me giddy each morning. Like Ally, I am a purse gal because I seem to be too rough on shoes to spend any kind of major $$$. I have three LVs and never look back on them!

  6. It is worth spending money on a good pair of shoes.And you do need a good pair (or two, maybe navy or black and nude) of very basic, go-with-everything shoes. I travel all the time between two countries and I've realised it makes much more sense to have one pair of even rather boring shoes to go with everything... it's just easier to pack 5 dresses in all the colours of the rainbow than 5 pairs of shoes...

  8. Love that jcrew dress on you!! I'm not a big shoe person but I love me some Tory Burch flats and sandals. After my feet got so swollen last pregnancy I just can't seem to wear heels anymore :( I am a huge bag person though, I haven't bought a new bag in almost a year and I'm itching for one. I'm trying to be chic and practical!

  9. Valentino is on my wish list all day every day. :) My Louboutins now reside under a glass cloche in my home office because that is how little I care to wear them again! Ha! Gorgeous to look at on display. Terrible to wear. The big bow heels have been on my list lately too! xo

  10. I've never been a huge shoe person but as I'm getting older, I'm starting to really appreciate a good pair! Louboutins are my dream - I will own some one day! Love that you went with a classic pair that you can wear ALL the time!
