Scenes from our Weekend : Tropical Depression Karen

We had a nice laid back weekend and prepared for what we thought would be hurricane Karen's arrival to the Gulf Coast.  The weather channel sent Jim Cantore to Pensacola Beach, so I was certain we would get some kind of hurricane rain storm worth our while...but we didn't.  And I am very thankful for that.  With a home under construction and not fully protected, we could have had big problems.  All is well here and we just got a little rain, but it does appear that it has brought some cooler temperatures for us for that rest of the week!

On Friday, Brody and I got dressed for a lunch date with our friends at the Country Club and Brody was pretty psyched about it.

The kids don't exactly recognize each other's existence quite yet, but we can't wait until they do!!

We hung out at home Friday night and put Brody to bed and I put together his little exercise jumper that we've had packed away in the garage until he was big enough to use.   When he woke up Saturday morning, I tried him in his new toy; but his feet don't quite touch the floor.  He still enjoyed himself for a little bit and I stuck a few books under his feet to see if that would help.

We packed up the car and headed over to my Dads house to watch some football for a few hours and hit our first "hurricane party."  Brody and Dad are sporting their Florida Orange and Blue like good little fans!

Saturday evening we headed over to the Martin's for another "hurricane party."  We had spent a tropical storm with them last year and we decided we'd have to ride out hurricane Karen together too.  We all looked at each other at one point and said, "Wow, a lot has changed in one year."  Last year's hurricane party, we were drinking, playing BS and catch phrase without a care in the world, and now we have two kids under 3 months old ruling the house!

The good news was we were still able to recreate these amazing freshly squeezed skinny margaritas that they introduced me to last year.  I am not even a big fan of margaritas, but these are INCREDIBLE.  They have this awesome Breville Citrus Press which makes the process so easy and fast.  So here's the recipe we used :

Ingredients
  • Kosher salt or coarsely ground sea salt (optional)
  • 2 ounces (1/4 cup) silver tequila
  • 2 ounces water
  • 1 1/2 small limes (approx 1 1/2 ounces) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 of a medium orange  (about 1 ounce) fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon light agave nectar
  • 1 lime wedge or round, for garnish

Sunday was a little rainy and a good day for snuggles inside and a football watching kind of day.  We were a little tired from our hurricane party, so we napped and were lazy all day long.

What do you like to do on a rainy weekend??

    1. YES! Sadly, on the Gulf Coast, we get so many storms but luckily a lot of them are not too dangerous; so we all go to a safe place and party together!
