I got to feel like I was back in college for a bit this weekend when we headed to Tuscaloosa for the Gator game. We had a blast! We went with friends of ours (half Gators and half Bama fans) and rented a house for the weekend. The house was perfect for the eight of us and was only 4 miles from campus. We did this same thing 4 years ago when they played and we loved that everyone could all stay together.
Have you ever heard of Gameday Housing? It's brilliant. People actually move out of their homes for the weekend and rent their house out to fans that are coming up for the game. It's a little weird (and I wouldn't rent my house out), but I had no problem staying in someone else's! It's worth looking into if you are traveling to a game with a group of people. Hotels are always expensive and hard to come by on game days, so this was a great alternative option.
Anyway, we got there Friday and hit up University Ave for some food and drinks. It was so fun checking out campus and just people watching! I love seeing what college kids look like to me now (such babies) and what they are wearing (lots and lots of rompers and tiny silk shorts up their butts).
We got ourselves all dressed up and ready for the day on Saturday morning. The game was at 2:30pm so we tried to get to campus around 11am so we had some good tailgating time before the game.
We hopped around to a few tailgates and then headed to the stadium!
The stadium is massive!! It was packed out too!
The game didn't end exactly as we had hoped for, but we still put up a fight!! Luckily, I didn't have high expectations. We left the game and met back up with friends and watched some more football at the bars. I loved catching up with my girlfriends so much!!
We got on the road early on Sunday as we were anxious to get home to our little buddy. We had a fun weekend away, but it's always exciting to get home to this sweet face.
We did have to make a stop for breakfast on the way home and managed to find this old Mom and Pops joint that apparently is famous for their BBQ, but also served breakfast. Anyone ever been to Centreville, AL before?????????
Happy Monday friends :)

So fun! I'm glad you enjoyed tuscaloosa!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had such a fun weekend!! The idea of renting out a house is definitely different, but very useful! Traveling to see your team is such a fun part of fall!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea to rent out a house for the weekend. People around here rent out their houses for the Murfield Golf tournament and I'm sure they make great money! I don't know if I could do it either, but I'd def rent someone elses'! Love your Gator colored outfit! Brody is too cute in his fuzzy chair!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a blast! Yeah I didn't have high hopes for the game either, so I was just glad to see that we were holding our own pretty well, at least at first! ;) Love your Game Day dress!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend! Such a good idea for rentals! I would stay in one but not sure I would want to rent mine out!

ReplyDeleteI've heard of gameday housing - especially for fl/ga weekend in jax!! I'm with you - didn't have high expectations, but they played well the first half!! Looks like you guys had the best time and it's always fun to go back to college, if only for the weekend!
ReplyDeletefirst i love your sunnies!! second looks like you had a great weekend for sure!
ReplyDeletelooks like a great weekend! and what a smart idea for ppl to rent out their houses! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI know - I love seeing what "the kids" are wearing these days. I know we looked equally ridiculous in our day (and have the pictures to prove it) but it never fails to amaze me. Looked like a fun weekend - despite the less than stellar outcome for the Gators. I agree with the expectations though - it was honestly a much better game than I expected for the first three quarters.
ReplyDeleteGameday Housing is genius! I agree though, I don't think I could rent out my house!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, that photo - he is so cute!

You are looking so skinny!! And I still can't get over the darling picture of Brody. Too precious!!

ReplyDeleteI'll definitely have to check into Gameday Housing. How cool! I love the dress you wore to the game and yes, lots of silky shorts are being worn on campus these days and it is NOT attractive.
ReplyDeleteNothing better than college football on a Saturday! We went to our alma maters game this weekend, too and I couldn't get over how young the college kids looked!! Hard to believe that was us just a few years ago!
ReplyDeleteI went to the game this weekend too and it was so fun! My first time down there. Next time I'll check out that Gameday Housing, sounds so much better than the hotel we stayed at.
ReplyDeleteYay for fun weekends with friends! I am going back for Purdue's Homecoming this coming weekend and can't wait! My brother and sister-in-law are Alabama alums - game days are so fun in Tuscaloosa!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend!! Growing up people rented their houses for the furniture market but I've never heard of it for game days. What a great idea! Your little buddy is so so cute!
