Thoughts for Thursday

I have a few random thoughts for you this Thursday!   You can share anything.  Just link up with Natalie and I below and hop around to a few new blogs to say hi!

+ I mentioned on Instagram that I didn't have my phone for almost three days.  I left it at a restaurant in Biloxi when we were there on Saturday and they were closed Sunday, so I had to head back to Pensacola without it.  Thankfully, we had someone that could pick it up for me and overnight it so I would receive it on Tuesday.  I could literally write an entire post discussing how bad the addiction to the cell phone really is.  I look at it first thing in the morning, have it sitting out of my purse in the car, bring it up and down the stairs with me when I'm at home, etc, etc.  It felt SO nice not to worry about the thing for 3 days.  When I got it back, I took off ALL notifications.  I don't want to see any of them.  I still love social media, don't get me wrong, but I'm going to try to be better about mindlessly scrolling instagram.

+ I tried Orangetheory for the first time this week because one actually opened in Pensacola!  It was amazing and I would say that I'm completely obsessed with it if I didn't have knee troubles.  The treadmills were really amazing though and had extra cushion for sure, which made jogging feel better and hard to resist.  I've mentioned before, but I really shouldn't be running with my knee.  Thankfully they do have alternative options, so you don't have to run if you can't.  I'm hoping to continue doing it, but keep a light jog depending on how my knee holds up.  Have any of you tried it?

+ Matt and I rented The Infiltrator last night.  It is based on a true story about Pablo Escabar.  Have any of you been watching Narcos, the Netflix series??  We still have to finish the second season.  Anyway, this movie was intense.  It's a little more gory then I typically like to watch, but it keeps you on your toes.  Matt and I both agreed the intensity kind of reminded us of the movie Man on Fire.  We were both pretty wired after the movie was over!  If you like Narcos, I would recommend this one to you.

+ Are you sick of seeing pictures of my kids on our stairs yet?  Ya'll, I have them trained now.  Who would have thought?  I can't help it either.  I love seeing them cuddled up on the stairs.  I think I'm going to have to get a photo book going of these two!

  1. I hear ya on the cell phone addiction. It is really bad, I need to make it a point to not always bring it with me when I'm at home and to definitely turn off notifications. I love seeing your kids outfits! They are always dressed so classic and cute!

  2. I have such an addiction to my phone and mindless scrolling. I need to really learn to stop!!! I need detox haha. I love the pics of your kids on the steps. they are so cute and I only wish I could train mine to sit on the steps and smile! I have been wanting to try OT but there is not one where we live! My bestie loves it and does it multiple times a week!

  3. The phone addiction is a real thing and I so wish I wasn't so bad about it! I tell myself I'm going to stay off the phone (unless for calls) from 8-1 everyday but it just doesn't happen! A friend and I tried Orange Theory the other week and loved it so much!

  4. My phone addition is so bad too!! I just took FB off my phone, but I think I will turn my notifications off too. I could probably use a 3 day break. Could those two be any cuter?! I need to work on training mine to sit on the front steps! Kyle and I rented the Infiltrator last Friday and loved it! I wanted a comedy but he convinced me to try it and I loved it. We also loved Narcos!

  5. I'm the same as you, I carry my phone with me all over the house. I would be lost without it as well.

  6. I think it is so great that you turned off all of your phone notifications! That makes such a big different when you're trying to be intentional about limiting your phone usage. I'm always trying to be intentional about staying off my phone for most of the day, but it is such a struggle! Cheers, Laura

  10. In the Hurricane Matthew aftermath last week, our cell tower was down - no reception, no data, no nothin'! I can't tell you how many times I reached for my phone automatically, but it really was refreshing to not be so attached to it!

  12. I have been doing Orange Theory for about 4 months now and I love it! When I am having joint pain I have found doing the "power walking" to be helpful and I am still able to get my heart rate in the orange if I push the incline. I have not tried the other machines, but hopefully something will work for you! I love following your blog :)

  13. An Orangetheory is opening early next year a mile from my house. I was thinking of trying it out and had a concern about my knee as well with running. Thank you for telling me that there are other options besides running. I hope to join and do it three days a week. 😊

  14. Sometimes I feel like ditching my phone too. It consumes the majority of my day. I sometimes want to read and finish the book I've been reading for like the past 10 months but I always say I don't have enough time. However, I do have time to go on social media and "waste" times sometimes. I think it can definitely feel liberating to be phone-free for a few days.

  15. Yes, I feel you on the addiction to my phone. It's like I can't be bored now, I can't just sit for a second without picking up my phone. Ha! ..and I will never get sick of seeing photos of your kids. They're just too adorable.

  17. For real...I really need to learn to have down time away from my phone. There are days when I realize I'm on my laptop and have both my ipad and my iphone sitting next to me. Ridiculous
